Finance Coordinator

Finance:

  • Responsible for the processing of accounts receivables and payables including;

    • deposits,

    • cheque runs, and

    • ensuring compliance with financial procedures and policies, and

    • other general coordination in support of the finance team

Reaching Home:

  • Documents and keeps current all changes of financial policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for financial advances to approved sub-projects

    • identify if a quarterly advance is approved OR if progress payments make the most sense for sub-projects given the claims submitted

  • Completes all Reaching Home sub-project finance monitoring visits (in-person or virtual).

  • Completes Capital Investment financial monitoring visits. (on-site and/or virtual)

  • Reviews all proposals/expressions of interest/applications for Reaching Home funding

    • including attestations that the agency uses proper financial management practices

    • reviewing policies and procedure documents and identifying what should be shared and reviewed

  • Creates regular written guidance updates on financial claims and reporting for sub-projects and completes regular onboarding meeting with new projects which include a review of all relevant policies and procedures

  • Ensures current internal reporting on the financial status of the Reaching Home program, with a focus on internal compliance and forecasting of any budget variances

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

Office environment; occasional work under pressure; potential for site visits of funded projects (travel required) to homelessness serving facilities and program delivery centers.

 

Typical working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am until 4:00pm.
 

Education and Experience

  • Post secondary degree/diploma in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience

  • 2-3 years working in a finance department

  • Operational knowledge of accounting programs (Quick Books)

  • MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) experience at an intermediate level

  • Understanding of the homelessness & housing support environment in Nova Scotia considered an asset
